Tattoo Removal

Tattoos can be removed with a powerful and bright laser. Until now the results of the use of dermoabrasion or of a carbon dioxide laser had brought disappointing results, often leaving exit scars in place of the removed tattoos. However, the use of the most modern laser Q-Switched has enabled the elimination of the tattoo without leaving signs of scars or marks of any type. These innovative lasers use a particular wavelength which, absorbed by the relative color, induce fragmentation. The fragments created are then gradually eliminated by our immune system.

How does the laser work when confronted with different color pigments?

Every color is associated with a particular wavelength, meaning that with each color a certain wavelength will be selected to remove the color in question. The use of these wavelengths in combination with extremely short and powerful pulsations result therefore in the complete elimination of the tattoo without any damage to the skin. Black and red tattoos are generally eliminated more quickly than those containing green and blue, which tend to require more sittings, while tattoos of white and yellow are the most difficult to eliminate. The percentage of success in the removal of tattoos with the Q-Switched laser has today reached more than 90%.

How many sessions are necessary for the complete elimination of a tattoo?

On average seven sittings are required for the complete removal of a professional tattoo, while tattoos performed by an amateur generally require around four sittings, as the removal depends on the quality and type of ink used and by the depth of the ink in the skin. The different sessions of the treatment take place at approximately one month apart.

Is treatment with the Q-Switched laser painful?

The majority of patients do not request an anesthetic during the treatment. After the treatment a light bleeding will most likely result on the treated area. An antibiotic ointment will thus be given to the patient, to be used for the course of one week. In order to avoid any side effects the area treated by the laser must not be rubbed.

With this laser it is possible to remove skin blemishes and marks and tattoos.
